Have you thanked God today already?

God is waiting for us. He gives us the freedom to live without him—with all the consequences. But he also offers us the chance to be part of his family. He wants to be our Father and has allowed his Son, Jesus Christ, to become our brother. Jesus opened the door to the Father for us. Now God is waiting. He is waiting for us to speak with him, for us to turn to him. Help is already available—in every situation. Even if we don't see anything yet, we may, can, and should already thank God for what he has done and is still doing. In Psalm 103, the psalmist lists what we can always thank God for. And Psalm 50 tells us that thanksgiving is a praise of God that has consequences: it opens the door to God's blessing and help—we experience God's salvation. Perhaps not exactly what we asked for, but much more, much more comprehensive: God's salvation. Blessing, grace, help, rescue. Paul writes (Romans 8:32): "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" (English translation according Luther)
